| Welcome to the new WTIA e-newsletter! |
|
Each
month we'll summarize the events, programs, special offerings, and government
affairs activities we're working on with a focus on giving you the key information
you need to know to take advantage of your WTIA membership. We encourage you to
let us know what you think of this publication - so don't hesitate to give us
your feedback.
This month be sure to join us at our
15th annual Investment Forum April 25th
at Bell Harbor Conference Center. Hear presentations from companies vying for
capital, listen to industry analysts discussing key industry trends, and get connected
to leaders from throughout Washington's technology industry.
It's been
quite a year of change here at the association. Just a few weeks ago at our annual
Industry Achievement Awards we announced a variety of new discounted services,
an expanded membership base, and a new name that better reflects who we have become
- The Washington Technology Industry Association.

Lobbying on behalf of Washington's Technology
Industry is one of the many valuable services we provide our members. For over
two decades the Washington Technology Industry Association has been the key voice
on a wide range of public policy issues including K-12 and higher education, taxes,
health care, economic development and technology regulation. With the close of
the recent legislative session we wanted to give a quick snapshot of legislation
we worked on behalf of your company and the industry. We consider the 2008 session
a successful one for the industry. We were able to prevent some very punitive
bills from passing while helping to strengthen math standards, support efforts
for an e-Science institute at the University of Washington, pilot a telework project
in Kitsap County, and support technology literacy programs.
